ROUND, Rose
ROUND, Rose It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished aunt, Rose Round, on April 30, 2016 at the age of 98 years and 9 months. She was born July 28, 1917 in the Romanian community of Kayville, Saskatchewan and moved to Vancouver in the 1930's. There, at a dance in 1939, she met her future husband, Cliff Round. They were married in 1943 and spent 68 wonderful years together until his passing in 2011. Rose loved to keep active. She and Cliff were avid square dancers. They travelled the world, taking many tours and cruises, as well as, spending Christmas holidays in Hawaii. They enjoyed fine dining at restaurants in and around Vancouver, Horizons on Burnaby Mountain was a favourite. Rose was an immaculate housekeeper, a good cook and a wonderful hostess to friends and relatives. She enjoyed her daily walks up and down the hills of the neighbourhood. She regularly played challenging games of bridge at the local community centre. Gardening was Rose's passion and she continued to maintain her beautifully groomed yard up until she left her North Burnaby home on April 30, 2014. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Cliff, and her parents, George and Agafia Petrescue, Rose was the sole surviving member of a family of 15 children, which included 8 brothers and 7 sisters. She is survived by many nieces and nephews from all across North America. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff at Elim Village for the excellent and very compassionate care shown to Rose during her two years there. A special thank you, too, to Pastor Gordon Fryer, for all his spiritual support, his kind words, and comforting visits to Rose. A memorial service has been held.
