Our Aunt Ivy succumbed to the complications of a stroke on April 3rd at the Lynn Valley Lodge, in her 105th year. We are grateful to the nurses and caregivers for their love and devotion to Ivy's needs, especially during the past difficult week. Ivy was born in Vancouver but was a long time resident of North Vancouver and lived at Twin Towers for over 30 years prior to moving to care last year. Her proximity to the North Shore Neighbourhood House meant she had friends and activities that made her retirement years fulfilling. The family would like to thank Elisa Auyong for her extra efforts in keeping Ivy involved especially the last years. To Andy and the whole Keep Well Group, Ivy treasured all of you. She was a faithful devotee of the PNE and until the age of 101, only missed one year during the PNE's existence. She was a long time fan of Dal Richards and never missed his performances there and on the radio. She was honoured when he brought her on stage at her 100th birthday celebration for a Happy Birthday song.
Ivy was predeceased by her sister Elsie Strom whom she always missed and by her brother Robert Todd. She is survived by nieces Brenda Felker (Wayne) Sonya MacKinnon (Pete) and Sharon Yandle, along with nephews, the Todd family, Terry (Sherri) Robin, and Rick (Selena) as well as dozens of their offspring and their families. She delighted in the births of all the babies and the love of her extended family. There will be a family memorial in early summer to honour this gentle refined person with a heart of gold and love of the Arts. She was a lady in the truest sense of the word. In her memory, please buy yourself a pink rose or make a donation to the Red Cross, her favourite charity.
