TOMPKINS, Nola Yvonne March 24, 1947 - July 17, 2013 Our dearest Nola left us on July 17, 2013 after her struggle with cancer. She is survived by her son Mark, grandchildren Tyler and Jasmine, mother Dawne Dunn, sister Gayle Tough, brother David Townsley and his wife Donna. Born in North Vancouver, Nola remained a true North Shore spirit, never wandering away from that beautiful space between the mountains and the ocean. Her love of friendships, fun, and belly-aching laughter made her magnetic to so many others seeking a smile. Nola was a passionate yoga teacher and her students loved her for her gentle guidance and kind words. She appreciated good music, great food and a spectacular garden. Nola was our most precious flower, and she will forever be remembered and cherished in our hearts. She told her son, "A sense of humor will get you through most of life's battles." And in the end, with her courageous battle against cancer, she still found a way to smile and giggle. Our family wishes to extend our gratitude to Nola's long time friend and nurse, Anne Trory, who never left her side. We would also like to thank the amazing nurses on the 5th floor of the BC Cancer agency, who went beyond their duties with extra love and caring. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 28 at 1:30pm at West Vancouver United Church, followed by a reception.
