Darrold Roy "Swede" Lindell, 82, died Dec. 31, 2012, in Ocala, Fla. Swede was born in Litchfield, Minn., Dec. 28, 1930. He was the son of the late Roy Lloyd Lindell and Ella Clara Schlender. Swede graduated from Litchfield High School and Charminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii. He joined the U.S. Air Force after high school to play in the 776th Air Force Band. He retired from the Air Force after serving 21 years, and from the Hartford Insurance Group. He was a member of the Dunnellon Masonic Lodge and the Sphinx Shrine. He paraded with the Sphinx Drum Corps in Hartford, Conn., and later with the Bektash Drum Corps in Concord, N.H., where, on one Memorial Day, he played taps seven times. He was also a member of the Dunnellon Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, where he was Worthy Patron many times, and was a Past Grand Warder in New Hampshire.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan; his beloved daughters, Nanette Stafford, Laguna Woods, Calif., Janette Murtha, South Windsor, Conn., and Carol Metselaar, Vernon, Conn.; his brother, Jerry Lindell, Litchfield, Minn.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services, including a Masonic Service, was 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the Dunnellon Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jeffrey Welch officiating.
