Gordon Quigley, 82, a former Rainbow Springs resident, passed away Saturday, May 12, at his home in Freedom Village in Bradenton.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Quigley. They were married Aug. 24, 1958. He is also survived by two daughters, Cindy Sickler of Massachusetts, and Martha O'Rourke of California; two granddaughters; and three grandsons.

Prior to his marriage he was a Smoke Jumper in Idaho from 1955 to 1958. Gordon served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1960 to 1961, and received his PhD. in education from University of Oregon in 1975.

He was teacher and principal in Eugene, Ore., and International School Director in Saudi Arabia four years, Yugoslavia for four years and in Ethiopia for two years. He retired in 1997, moving with his wife, Betty to Rainbow Springs in 2001.

Gordon was a very active member of the Kiwanis Club while in Rainbow Springs and enjoyed golf and bridge as well.

A celebration of life will be the first week in August at Freedom Village. The date and time has not yet been set.
