Theo Helen Lyons Sommer, 87, of Knoxville, passed gracefully Tuesday evening, April 23, 2013, in Tennova Residential Hospice after a short battle with lung cancer.
She was a native of Corbin, Ky. She was a graduate of Christian College in Columbia, Mo., where she received a Bachelor of Arts. She then attended Powers School of Modeling in New York, where she modeled for several years. She returned to Kentucky and married Dr. Francis X. Sommer, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by nephew, Mark Lyons. She enjoyed bird watching and loved all animals. She was a devoted and giving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by children, Francis X. Sommer III and Barbara Sommer and husband Michael Konrad, all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Sara, Raquel, Brian, Anna Claire and Francis Xavier IV; brother, Dr. Carson Lyons and wife Dottie, Williamsburg, Va.; niece, Kim Laughlin and husband Larry, Aiken, S.C.
The family will receive from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27, followed by a celebration of life at 7 p.m. in Click Funeral Home Middlebrook Chapel, Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either ASPCA, www.aspca.org/donate, or Young-Williams Animal Shelter, www.young-williams.org. I remember her as a sweet, beautiful and as a very kind lady to me, when we played together(Barbara and Frank.) That has been so many years ago. I'm so sorry for your loss.
