Arthur J. McClure of Kingston, born July 29, 1922, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Ladd McClure; son, AJ McClure; grandson, Kevin Blaine McClure; mother and father, Rebecca Jane and Rufus Washington McClure. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, James W., Ernest Fredrick, Dallas Hugh, Vada Sue, Rufus Washington, Ollie Mae, Ida, Frank Henry, Della, Nell, Creed Denton, Robert Taylor and Mary Augusta.
Survivors include sons, Ray and Rhonda McClure, Lonnie and Phyllis McClure, and Gene and Robin McClure; daughters, Janice and JL Millsaps, and Helen and Gary Wallace; daughter-in-law, Sandra McClure; sister, Francis Elizabeth; special friend and neighbor, Alfred Brown; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in Calvary Baptist Church in Kingston, with the Rev. Jeff Plemons, the Rev. Ray Bearden and Gene McClure officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Lawnville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church. What a wonderful man! Arthur was a father to many of us growing up in that little of Kingston. I remember his laughter and how he loved everyone.
