Alice Ann "Billie" Abston Guffey, 80, of Rockwood, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.
Born July 14, 1933, in Rockwood, she was a loving wife, mother, nanny and sister; also an avid golfer, bowler and a Tennessee Vols fan. She was preceded in death by parents, William and Ruby Brasel Abston; brothers, Earl and Huey; sisters, Louise Scott, Mildred Meadows and Ruth Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband, Standford "S.L." Guffey; daughters, Deborah Smith (Terry) and Linda Valdivia (Lawrence); grandsons, Brian Cox (Brooke), and Anthony Valdivia; stepgranddaughter, Claire Smith; stepgrandsons, Kenric Smith (Jennifer) and Jordan Smith (Christina); great-grandchildren, Amber, Adam and Avery Cox, Hannah, Gracie and Carley, Grant, Andrew, Olivia, Alli and Ryland; sister, Brenda Turner (Sam), Rockwood; brothers, Frank Abston and Emma Jean, Harriman, Jerry Abston, Guntersville, Ala., and David Abston (Rhea), Wilmington, N.C.; sister-in-law, Lillian Perry; also surviving are many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family received friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, in Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services followed at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Charles Kelly officiating. Burial was at Nelson Cemetery, Catoosa.
