Billy Gene Shaw, 75, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, in Holston Valley Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in Loudon, he had lived in Kingston for 37 years. He was a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force
, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the very first football team at Midway High School. He was a member of Grace Community Church in Kingston and a member of the American Legion Post 110 in Kingston and VFW
Post 5065 in Sheridan, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Dorcas Simpson Shaw; brother, Bobby Shaw; and sister, Anna Lou Brogdon.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jerolyn Shaw; daughters, Cindy Welch and husband Steve of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and Wendy Gray and husband John, Rogersville; sisters, Carol Bullard, Phyllis Gibson, Mary Roberts, Judy Gouge and Beth Spence; brothers, Jimmy Shaw, Virgil Shaw, David Shaw, Larry Shaw and Gary Shaw; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn., with the Hawkins County Color Guard and the Tennessee National Guard performing the rites. The Color Guard will serve as pallbearers.
