Cecil Wayne Baker

Cecil Wayne Baker, 73, of Harriman, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, May 13, 2013, following a lengthy illness and some time at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, followed by a brief stay at Renaissance Terrace nursing home in Harriman.
He and his wife, Irene Boles Baker, lived in Midtown. He was a member of Harriman Church of Christ. He was a retired pipefitter from the Tennessee Valley Authority and worked many years at the Kingston steam plant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving primarily in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Lee and Jewel Leon Baker, Harriman; and grandparents, D.G. and Susie Baker, Cleveland, and Clyde and Lena Hearn, Chattanooga.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Boles Baker, Midtown; one daughter, Rene Baker, Kingston; one brother, Jerry Baker and wife Becky, Athens; one sister, Beverly Baker Casteel and husband Bob, Knoxville; one nephew, Lee Baker and wife Pam, Knoxville; five nieces, Melanie Baker Nichols and husband Rob, Paris, Tenn., Lisa Lane and husband Michael, Knoxville, Marla Hensley and husband Dennis, Knoxville, Diana Dal Zotto, Stone Mountain, Ga., and Rhonda Treaster, Crossville; a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m., with Minister Freeman Hicks of Harriman Church of Christ and Minister Howard Scott of South Harriman Church of God of Prophecy officiating. The graveside service followed at Willard Park Cemetery in South Harriman.
In lieu flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to either Harriman Church of Christ, South Harriman Church of God of Prophecy, the American Lung Association, the or the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation.
