Charles Drew, 77, of Harriman, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at the Renaissance Terrace in Harriman.
He was born May 21, 1935 in Cary, Kentucky to Robert and Myrtle Patterson Drew. He attended South Harriman Baptist Church; was a former Roane County investigator for the Sheriff s Office; and was a former assistant police chief
. He attended FBI Academy and was a veteran
of the U.S. Marine Corps
where he served for 22½, retiring in 1975 as a captain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Eugene Drew.
Survivors include wife, Claudia Drew, Harriman; daughters, Vicki Gunter and husband, McKinley, Cindy Miller and husband, Brillo, all of Rockwood; son, Anthony Wayne Drew and wife, Susan, Pasadena, MD.; seven grandchildren, Monica Decker, Kendra Williams, Shane Gunter, Shawn Riley, Christopher Beeson, Carissa Huskins and Case Miller; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Blankenship, Louisville, KY. and Wanda Drew, California.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. The funeral service followed in the chapel of Evans Mortuary at 8 p.m. with Bro. Ken Isham and the Rev. Matt Edwards officiating. Interment and burial was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 in Roane Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps. Reserves and Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard.
