Clyde W. "Papa Clyde" Russell

Clyde W. "Papa Clyde" Russell, 65, of Midtown, Harriman, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 24, 1947, in Midtown in Roane County, to Albert Benjamin Franklin Russell and Bertha Marie Davis Russell. He was a master carpenter and former member of Carpenters Union Local 50 in Knoxville. He was also a member of Westel Baptist Church in Rockwood, Union Masonic Lodge 38 in Kingston, Scottish Rite and a Shriner with the Kerbela Shrine Temple in Knoxville. He was also a retired member of Midtown Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Cherry Russell, Midtown; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and James Owings, Kingston; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie "Hoppy" and Brenda Russell, Midtown; brother-in-law, who was like a brother, Jim Blakley and wife K.K., Westel; nieces and nephews, Melissa Wrather and her son Casey, Christy Shipley and husband, Mike and their children Allie and Jake, and Stacey Culver and husband George and their children Erin, Ashley, Anna, and Luke; and aunt, Clara Holt, Paint Rock.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, in Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. Funeral services followed at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, in Evans Mortuary chapel, with the Rev. Mike Higgins officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Piney Grove Cemetery in Midtown. Memorial contributions may be made to Westel Baptist Church.
