Dorothy Louise â€˜Bootie' Haren
Dorothy Louise "Bootie" Haren, 88, a lifetime resident of Rockwood, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, in The Bridge at Rockwood.
She graduated from Rockwood High School and attended Knoxville Business College. She worked at Oak Ridge in the early part of World War II, and later at Dunn and Bradstreet in Knoxville, and then for many years at the Tennessee Department of Employment Security. The great love of her life was her family. She was a devoted member of Rockwood First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where she received the Elder Emeritus Award for her service. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Carrie Doughty; husband, W.J. "Bill" Haren; sister, Catheline; and brothers, Floyd and Clarence.
Survivors include children, Vanessa Lovelace and husband Jim, Knoxville, Marsha Berry and husband Ron, Rockwood, and Dr. Vincent Haren and wife Jane, Chattanooga; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in Rockwood First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ at 328 W. Rockwood St., Rockwood, Tenn. 37854. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the church, with the Rev. Ron Buck officiating. Graveside services and burial were at Oak Grove Cemetery, Rockwood.
