Edna J. "Granny" Barnes

Edna J. "Granny" Barnes, 95, of Rockwood, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, surrounded by her family.
She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She was born Feb. 19, 1918, in Morgan County to John Ivory and Dora Eliza Howard Potter. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellard B. "Dadah" Barnes; parents; six brothers and sisters; and great-granddaughter, Mandy Leffew.
Survivors include daughters, Yvonne Young and husband Morgan, and Venita Burnette and husband Wayne; granddaughters, Karen Massey and husband Ross, Kathy Tilley and husband Larry, Tammy Leffew and husband Glenn, and Sherry Matheson; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Tilley (Joey Chambers), Sarah and Savannah Tilley, Trent and Audrey Massey, Beth and Megan Leffew, and Heather Matheson; a host of nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, in Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. Funeral services followed in the chapel of Evans Mortuary at 8 p.m., with Larry Tilley and Glenn Leffew officiating. Graveside and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Swan Pond Baptist Church Cemetery, Harriman.
