George Carlisle Sparks

George Carlisle Sparks, 93, of Ten Mile, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.
He was a World War II, U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Ponders Baptist Church in Ten Mile. He was preceded in death by parents, William and Isabelle Sparks; and wife, Minnie Sparks.
He is survived by sons, Don Sparks (Connie), California, George Sparks (Barbie), Ten Mile, and Jack Sparks, Colorado; daughters, Jeanine Wilhelm, Indiana, Martha Krieg (Gary), Indiana, and Gail Owings (Richard), Rockwood; nine grandchildren, Dennis, Joan, Jackie, Hannah, Dakota, Randy, Jason, Josh and Zoe; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, in Ponders Baptist Church in Ten Mile. Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Tommy Patterson officiating. Concluding services and burial will be at Sparks Family Cemetery at 905 Dogtown Road in Ten Mile, with full military honors from U.S. Navy Honors. Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, is in charge of arrangements.
