Henry Melhorn, 77, of the Stephens community, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
He was a self-employed businessman and owned and operated Henry Melhorn Service Station. Also, in his early days, he worked in the coal mines, logged timber and was a farmer. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Roberts; his parents, Walter and Elsie Smith Melhorn; brothers, Jr. and George; and infant brother and sister, Jessie Lee.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Reneha Phillips Melhorn; daughters, Kayla Melhorn, the Stephens community, and Keli Melhorn, Coalfield; sons, Tony Melhorn, Oliver Springs, Tim and wife Lesa Melhorn, Coalfield; brother, Ray and wife Ann Melhorn, Joyner community; sisters, Betty and husband Doug Cloud, Rockwood, and Brenda Melhorn, Rockwood; special friends, Greg Daugherty, Arnold Jones, Motto and JoAnn Massengale, all of the Stephens community; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; a host of other friends and other relatives also survive, including father- and mother-in-law, Tom and Ruth Phillips, Devonia; and brother-in-law, Freeman and wife Dottie Phillips, Coalfield.
The family received friends from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, in Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services followed at 7:30 p.m., with Pastor Steven Skov officiating. Graveside services were at noon Monday, Sept. 10, at Camp Austin Cemetery, Oakdale.
