Herman Edward Adcock, 80, of Harriman, passed away late Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
He was THE BEST husband and father and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by son, Mark Adcock; daughter, Melissa Adcock Human; parents, Evans and Grace Adcock; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Red Barber; brother, Warren Adcock; sister and brother-in-law, Dean and Roy Sampsel; sister, Nora Sampsell; parents-in-law, Hosie and Annie Burks; sister-in-law, Bernice Burks; brother-in-law, Ed Burks; nephews and niece Charles Barber, Sam Sampsel, and Rod and Diane Sampsel. A member of South Harriman Baptist Church where he attended Eddie Pyle's Sunday school class, he was a graduate of Coalfield High School and the University of Tennessee; retired from 3M after 29 years service; retired from Thermocopy of Knoxville after 10 years service; and was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Maureen Adcock, Harriman; daughter, Melinda Adcock, Knoxville; sister-in-law, Susie Adcock, Knoxville; brothers-in-law, Elbert Sampsell, Hopewell, Va., and Harold Burks, Benton, Ark.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, former co-workers and friends; special niece and nephew, Janet and Tommy Collier, Benton; and special nieces, Jamie and Sherrie Barber Graham, Atlanta.
Funeral service was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in Evans Mortuary chapel, Rockwood, with the Rev. Matt Edwards officiating. Graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Roane Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Evans Mortuary.
