John Hurst Barnard, 53, of Kingston, passed away Saturday Sept. 29, 2012, in The Bridge at Rockwood.
He attended Salem Baptist Church. He worked at The Bridge at Rockwood and was a loving caregiver, having cared for his father for the last several years. He was very patriotic, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by a son, Johnathan Barnard; his mother, Patsy Barnard; a brother, Jeff Barnard; a sister, Terri Ann Barnard; aunts and uncles R.W. and Joyce Branson, Bobby and Louise Branson, and Tanny Moya.
Survivors include his father, John A. Barnard, Kingston; a sister, Eva "Cookie" Flierl, Kingsport; a brother, Jay Scott Barnard, Kingston; a special friend, Gina Beeler, Kingston; aunts and uncles, Dorothy Taylor, Kingston, Annie Evelyn Hagge, Colorado; Faye and John "J" Townsend, Lenoir City, Sue and Bob Henley, Kingston, Stan and Kaye Branson, Knoxville, Kathy and Tommy Parks, Kingston, and Beverley and Al Kelley, Kingston; a nephew, Jacob Neal, Kingsport; and 17 cousins.
Funeral was at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, in Kyker Funeral Home chapel, Kingston, with the Rev. Ted Clower officiating. Burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Fairview Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in Kyker Funeral Home, Kingston. www.kykerfuneralhomes.com
