Johnny H. Maynor of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away Thursday morning at his home. He was 78.
Born Jan. 29, 1935, at Madison, Ala., he was raised by Earl Gibson and Alice Allen Gibson. He married Barbara Snow on February 18, 1952, in Wartburg.
He attended school at Huntsville and New Market, Alabama. He retired from Raybestos after 38 years in 1998. He was a member of the Gateway Gospel Quartet from 1982 to 1996, with which he sang at many local churches with his family. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church. He enjoyed gospel music, golf, bowling and Alabama football.
Surviving family includes his wife, Barbara Maynor; sons, John "Sandy" (Rhonda) Maynor, Jr., Kenneth (Debra) Maynor and Michael (Ruth) Maynor; daughter, Kimberly (Joseph) Landes; sister, Ramona (Lawrence) Holman; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred; half-sister, Dorothy Houk; half-brothers, Vernie Houk, Franklin Houk and Herschel Houk; as well as brother, James F. Maynor.
Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Kyker Funeral Home chapel, Harriman. Burial will follow at RoaneMemorial Gardens.
