Lawrence Edward "Edd" Hill Sr., 71, of Rockwood, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 19, 1941, in Rockwood to Clarence Davis Hill Sr. and Annie Opal Ray Hill. He was a member of Missionary Church of Christ on Tarwater Street in Rockwood and was a retired truck driver with Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge. He was owner and operator of Edd's Small Engine Repair in Rockwood and was a friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Gayle Lawson Hill; daughter, Linda Mae Jones; son, Richard Allen Hill; sister, Wilma Kilby; brother, Clarence "Junior" Hill Jr.; and sister-in-law, Nancy Hill.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Freda K. and Richard Sullivan, Rockwood; sons and daughters-in-law, "Buck" and Shirley Hill, Rockwood, and Billy and Amber Hill, Oak Ridge; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Archie Hill, Knoxville; brother-in-law, Bill Kilby, Kingston; a host of nieces and nephews; and close friends, Sherry Hall, Rockwood, Tommy and Judy Givens, Westel, and Gene and Carolyn Hickey, Rockwood.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. Funeral services followed at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, from the chapel of Evans Mortuary, with the Rev. Andy Edwards officiating. Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Glen Alice Cemetery in Rockwood.
