Leonard Ray "Tex" Thompson, 81, of Rockwood, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Titus County, Texas, where he owned and operated a dairy farm with more than 100 head of cattle. He moved to Tennessee in 1975, working as a journeyman electrician and retiring from TVA in 1987. He was a member of Kingston Church of Christ and an avid cattleman and horseman. He was preceded in death by son, Jimmy Dan Thompson; parents, Lee and Mary Thompson; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janice M. Britt Thompson, Rockwood; children, Gaylon, Mike, Billy and Larry Thompson, Linda Kitchens, and Debbie Williams, Texas; stepchildren, Jeff and Tawan Cunningham, Lisa Cobb and Tina and Darrel Crisp, Rockwood; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; mother of his children, Lelda Thompson, Texas; special nephew, Don Thompson, Texas; a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Fraker Funeral Home, Kingston, with funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel, with Jeff Brown and Mike Winters officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Pleasant, Texas. Fraker Funeral Home, Kingston, is in charge of arrangements.
