Beloved mother Mary Sue Wallace, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014.
She was a resident of Maryville, but Harriman was her home. She was born Sept. 15, 1921. She attended school in Harriman and graduated from Harriman High School in 1939. She and her classmates remained close through the years and had many great reunions. She attended ETSU and the University of Tennessee before going to work for TVA in Knoxville. She retired from TVA after 32 years of service. She was an avid bridge player and loved her bridge club. She was always ready for a round of bridge. She also loved UT football and basketball and watched them on TV every time they played. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Bess Evans, Harriman; and husbands, Edward Sissom and Charlie Wallace.
She is survived by her children, Steve Sissom (Betty), Austin, Texas, Mike Sissom, Austin, and Suzanne Sissom Dennis (Richard), Maryville. Her grandchildren are Derek Dennis and Barrett Dennis, Maryville, Mary Dennis Walker (Shaun), Knoxville, Sanders Sissom and Megan Sissom, Austin, and Trey Salinas, Austin. Her great-grandchildren are Jake Salinas and Sarah Salinas, Austin. A great-grandson, Ian Daniel Walker, is soon to be born.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, in Kyker Funeral Home, Harriman. The Rev. Sonny Works will officiate at the memorial, and there will be a celebration of life immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the
