Michael A. Blanchard, 52, of Kingston, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014, in Parkwest Medical Center.
He was born July 17, 1962 in Sullivan County and attended University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harriman. He was owner and operator of Gibson Girls Southern Goodies at Adelaide's in Kingston since 2007 but had recently retired due to his health. He was a well-known wedding coordinator, event planner and renown caterer. Michael was a history enthusiast and an admirer of old movies. He also enjoyed antiquing and playing the organ. Michael made many friends and enjoyed taking care of people by doing what he loved. He was preceded in death by his father, Byron West Blanchard.
Survivors include loving mother, Virginia Bryson Blanchard, Kingston; sister, Patsy Blanchard, Kingston; brothers, David Blanchard and wife June, Kingston, and Wade Blanchard, Kingston; nephews, Timothy Earl, Lenoir City, Justin Earl, Kingston, Graham Blanchard and Connor Blanchard, Kingston; beloved dog, Cecil; several extended family members and very special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, in Fraker Funeral Home, Kingston. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Harriman, with Father Michael Sweeney presiding. Interment will follow the Mass at Roane Memorial Gardens.
