Mildred B. Oakes, 81, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, in Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 2, 1931, in Cumberland County to Lumley A. and Maggie Farmer Barnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn O. Oakes; her parents; three sisters, Reba Russell, Carol Nance and Margaret Patterson; and a brother, Walter H. "Gibb" Barnes.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Harback and husband Rodney, Harriman; a son, Wayne Oakes, Harriman; a grandson, Kevin Oakes, Westel; a sister, Martha Cofer Conner and husband Mack, Chattanooga; a brother, Ed Barnes and wife Rose, Sylvania, Ala.; a host of nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. Funeral service followed at 7 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Charles Kelley officiating.
