Missy Frances Wright Henley passed away at home Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, with her husband and daughters by her side after a short battle with colon cancer.
She was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Glenmary, Tenn. Her family moved in 1942 to South Harriman, where she was raised and remained a Roane County resident the remainder of her life. She was a graduate of South Harriman High School and Tennessee Tech University and played women's fast-pitch softball and basketball. It was there she met her blue-eyed sweetheart, Charles "Jib" Henley, and they married Dec. 20, 1953, and just reached a most precious milestone, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred James Wright and Dorothy Mae Babcock Wright; and her brother, Charles Guy "Mann" Wright.
She leaves to cherish her memories husband of 60 years, Chuck Henley; daughters, Kim Kennedy (Bruce) and Kelly Boles (Jim); beloved grandsons, Spencer Todd Boles and Nicholas Andrew Boles; her devoted sisters, Lois Hixson (Roy), Lorellen Whitfield (Pat), Una Coffman (Don) and Sherry Schuman (John); brother Barney and wife Margaret, who always felt like a sister to her. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. She leaves a legacy of devotion to family, commitment to marriage, and courage to pain.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in St. Andrews Episcopal Church, with Father Harry Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Kingston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in Kyker Funeral Home, Harriman. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either
