Myrtle Louise Burdette, 87, of Rockwood, passed away in The Bridge at Rockwood.
She was a lifelong member of Rockwood First Baptist Church. She enjoyed being a part of the church's Victory Group. She was retired from Burlington Mills as a knitter; she worked at Kroger's and Walmart in recent years. She created and was a member of the Local Neighborhood Flowers Club. She loved all her Kroger, Walmart and hosiery mill friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother â€¦ she was a true friend to all! She was preceded in death by, parents, James W. and Ollie Mae Jolly; husband, Lonnie S. Burdette; brother, James W. Jolly; sisters, Annie McBee and Helen Hicks; and half-brother, Harvey West.
She is survived by daughter, Louise Goney (Charles E.), Rockwood; granddaughters, Sandra M. Davis (Mike), Knoxville, and Cheryl Daniels, Rockwood; sister, Edith Cox (Junior), Wartburg; half-brothers, Ray West, Niota, and J.E. West, Memphis; half-sister, Christine Lugi, Niota; and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Laura, Shelby, Matthew, Zach, Bryan, Jessica and Casey. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends to cherish her memory.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, in the chapel of Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. Funeral service was at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Charles Kelley, officiating. Concluding services and burial were at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Rockwood. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville.
