Robert O. Young, 87, of Kingston, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.
He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy
during World War II
. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Beatrice and Robert C. Young; and one brother, Kenneth Young.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Young, Kingston; sons, Robert M. Young and wife Angie, Decatur, Ala., and Jerry Young, Kingston; grandchildren, Emily Cardona and husband Yair, Seattle, Matthew Young, Decatur, Ala., Jodi Samples and husband Scott, Kingston, and Jeremy Young, Kingston; four great-grandchildren; brother, James Young, Johnson City; sisters, Margaret Ferrell, Johnson City, Marie Geisler and husband Raymond, Elizabethton, and Shelia Whaley, Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call or go by the home at their convenience or meet at Cedar Grove Cemetery at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, for graveside services, with Pastor Phillip Martin officiating. Full military honors will be conducted at gravesite by the U.S. Navy and the Roane County Honor Guard.
