Roy E. Gallaher, 92, of Rockwood, a native of Decatur, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, after a battle with cancer.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and lived in Rockwood for 30 years. He was employed by Weill, Ellis, Weems and Copeland law firm for most of his life as a CPA after serving as first sergeant in World War II
in France and England. He attended the University of Chattanooga and graduated from McKenzie Business College.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Gallaher Tawzer.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Vivian Frances Gallaher; son, David Gallaher; grandchildren, Scott and Michael Tawzer, Patrick, Micah, Esther, Lauren, Rachel and Stephen Gallaher; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Michael Ann and Laura Tawzer and Konnor Gallaher.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, with the Rev. Janet Edwards officiating in Bowers Funeral Home, Decatur. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial was at Decatur Cemetery.
