Simuel C. O'Briant Jr., 80, of Kingston, went home to be with the Lord Friday, March 29, 2013.
He was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees and usher for many years. A veteran of the U.S. Army
, he served in Europe in communications. He was owner of O'Briant TV Sales and Service for 40 years, retiring in 2000, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and received the Roane County Chamber Outstanding Businessman Award in 1974. A graduate of Coyne Electronics of Chicago, he was honored in retirement by the city of Kingston for his many years of service and dedication to the community. He was also honored by Roane County in recognition of his service to the county. He also worked with Habitat for Humanity. He was preceded in death by son, Michael O'Briant; and parents, Simuel and Mary Muecke O'Briant.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ann Crowder O'Briant, Kingston; daughter, Julie O'Briant Taylor and husband Richard, Franklin; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Hamby O'Briant, Knoxville; grandchildren, Scott and Mitchell Taylor, Mary Katherine, Peyton and Collin O'Briant; sisters, Charlotte Lees, Knoxville and Mickey Seaman, Kingston; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in Kingston United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Todd Chancey and the Rev. Sue Lynn Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Kingston Memorial Gardens.
