Sue Dayton Thomas, born April 28, 1925, died March 9, 2013 in Cartersville, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Slick" Thomas; parents, Wilbur and Ollie Dayton; brother, Bud Dayton; sisters, Margie Miller, Mable Solsby, Bea Randolph, Ruth Wright and Joe Roberts; and son, Douglas Lee Thomas.
She moved from New Hope community to Cartersville several years ago. Her joy in life was traveling around the United States. Her most prized possession was her great-grandkids. She loved to tell stories of her childhood growing up in South Harriman. She never met a stranger and never failed to tell people she was a Tennessee Hillbilly.
Survivors include children, Paul Dwaine Thomas (Betty), Cartersville, Raul Dwight Thomas (Sarah), Anderson, S.C., and Paula Sanders, Atlanta; grandchildren, Brian Thomas (Sissy), Cartersville, Steven Sanders, Atlanta, Wayne Sanders, Atlanta, Stephanie Johnson (Matthew), Cartersville, Jeremy Thomas, Dalton, Ga., and Jay Sanders, Atlanta; eight great-grandchildren; and many special friends.
Funeral was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in Kyker Funeral Home chapel, Harriman, with the Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Roane Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Kyker Funeral Home. www.kykerfuneralhomes.com
