Ancil Theodore "Ted" Bowling, 62, of Oliver Springs, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.

He was born July 19, 1950, in Elizabethtown, Ky. He has lived in Oliver Springs since early childhood.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church; however, he attended Beech Park Baptist Church.
Before his disability he was employed as a grocery store manager at French's Market and the IGA Galaxy of Oliver Springs. He also owned and operated T&L Foods in Oliver Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ancil and Helen Bowling; a grandson, Bryson Goodman; and his mother-in-law, Mary McCarty Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Vickie Lynn Bowling, Oliver Springs; daughters, Whitney Butler and husband Dewayne, Oliver Springs, Brandi Goodman and husband Byron, Madisonville, and Maryann Evans and husband Kenny, Oliver Springs; a son, Charles Johnson and wife Lisa, Oliver Springs; and grandchildren, Autumn, Brady and Grayson Phillips, McKinzie Goodman, Tyler, Lane and Savanna Evans, Charles, Kayla and Lexie Johnson.
He is also survived by sisters, Glenda Jones and husband Vern, Oliver Springs, Paulette Buck, Oliver Springs, Elqueta West and husband Darrell, Oliver Springs, Wilma Bass and husband Warren, Oliver Springs, and Patricia Davies of England; brothers, Gary Bowling and wife Brenda, Clinton, and Perry Bowling and wife Betty, Oliver Springs; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in Beech Park Baptist Church, Oliver Springs. The funeral will follow in the church at 8 p.m., with Pastor Robbie leach officiating. Burial and graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home, Oliver Springs, is in charge of arrangements.
