Clarence David "Buck" Goldberg, 96, of Kingston, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, in The Bridge at Rockwood.

Raised in Waupan, Wis., he served during World War II with the 5th Headquarters Special Troop, 4th Army throughout Europe. He served two years with the 288th Combat Engineers; his favorite assignment, however, was playing for three years in the 160th Army Corps Band. After returning to the states, he married Mary Lou O'Bannon, Huntsville, Texas, and was recruited to move to Nashville by the Banner Tennessean newspaper as a photo engraver. After living many years in Nashville, they retired to Roane County to be near family and to enjoy their lake house.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Max and Charlie; sister, Ruth; wife of 69 years, Mary Lou; and son, Paul Goldberg, Kingston.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Joy Goldberg, Kingston; granddaughter, Leigh Hopf (Fred), Largo, Fla.; nieces, Karyl Howard, Ballwin, Mo., and Charlene Eickhoff (Richard), Cedarburg, Wis.; and nephews, Bill Goldberg (Joyce), Mountain City, Steve Aronson (Susan), Waupan, and Randy Aronson (Karen), Waupan.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Goldberg Family Endowment at Roane State Community College or a charity of the donor's choice.
