David Smith Register, 49, of Kingston, passed away Monday, Feb. 4. 2013.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Smith Blackburn. He was for many years employed as a quality control/radiography technician in the production of aircraft engines with Pratt and Whitney in Florida, and in the same capacity with Standard Aero Maryille, in the rebuilding of aircraft engines. At the time of his death, he had been employed at Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge as a radiographer/QC technician since 2011. He was born in North Carolina and grew up there and Kingston, graduating from Roane County High School in 1982. He loved his farm and animals, especially his dog Kletus. He and Melanie enjoyed boating, camping and four-wheeling with their many friends and school mates. He will be long remembered and missed by his family and a multitude of friends from work and the community he loved. He was Christian who attended Lawnville Road Christ of Christ, Kingston, with his wife, Melanie, and other family members.
Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Melanie Collins Register; father and stepmother, Buddy and Ginny Register, Florida; sister, Patty Hicks, Florida; brothers, Randy Register, Kingston, Steve and Travis Register, Florida. Nieces and nephews include Ryan Register, Oak Ridge, Stephanie Register, Kingston, Alex and Savannah Register, Jeanie and Mandy Hicks, all of Florida.
Receiving of friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in Kyker Funeral Home, Kingston. Funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. and will be conducted by Minister Gary Hoss of Lawnville Road Christ of Christ.
