Dennis L. Patterson, 60, of Riceville formerly of Kingston, passed away on Sunday Aug. 26, 2012.
Captain of the Calhoun Volunteer Fire Department, he also worked for many years at the McMinn County Rescue Squad, where he received many honors and awards for rescuing and saving lives. He also volunteered at Riceville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a volunteer police officer for the city of Kingston for 17 years. Owner/operator of Lois Bail Bonds in Madisonville, he graduated in 1971 from Roane County High School in Kingston.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Lois J. Patterson, Riceville; a son, Brian Lee Patterson, Madisonville; children, Kim Hodge and Derick, Loudon, Lonnie Russell, Loudon, Lisa Dodson and Dwayne, Altamont, Tenn.; his parents, Don and Florence "Babe" Patterson, Kingston; a brother, Steve and Elaine Patterson, Kingston; grandchildren, Kenya Hobbs, Beth Benton, Jonathan Benton, Josh Myers, Brooke Hodge and Harlee Russell; three great-grandchildren, Mason Miller, Carson Hobbs and Carter Hodge; several nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, in Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in Kyker's chapel, with the Rev. Mark McCoy officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Calhoun Volunteer Fire Department.
