Dorothy Jean Emery, 91, of Rockwood, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center, Harriman.

She was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Arlington, Va., to Charles Bruce Emery and Izora Sitler Emery. She was of the Methodist faith. She retired in 1975, after 30 years of service as a secretary with the United States Government's Tariffs Commission in Washington, D.C. After retirement, she moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., and then came to Rockwood eight years ago.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Robinson.
Survivors include a niece, Linda Hoden and husband, Mark, Rockwood; three great-nieces and great-nephews, William Hoden and wife Billie Lynn, Cary, N.C., Daniel Hoden and wife Heather, Johnson City, and Cheryl Overholt and husband Chris, Knoxville; and three great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Kayla Hoden, Jaxon Sparks and Mason Helton.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 17, from the chapel of Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, with the Rev. Charles Kelley officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Rockwood. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 17, in Evans Mortuary.
