Elgene Fredrick "Tut" Silvey, 93, of Kingston, originally of Harriman and formerly of Naples, Fla., passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at his home.
He was a member of Centerpointe Community Church in Naples. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a recipient of two Purple Hearts. He was past president and CEO of Harriman Welding Supply, an avid golfer and University of Tennessee fan and follower of Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by father, Fred B. Silvey; mother, Marie Silvey; and brothers, Walter and William Silvey.
He is survived by wife, Myra Silvey; sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Carolyn Silvey, and Thomas and Josephine Silvey; and grandchildren, Bryan, Carolyn and Jean Silvey.
Memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, in Kyker Funeral Home chapel, Kingston, with the Rev. Bill Keele officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1729 Harriman Hwy., Harriman, TN 37748.
