Ernestine Lane Mitchell, 93, of Kingston, was born Oct. 6, 1920, and passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013.

She was an active member of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church up until the time of her death, and held numerous roles in her church for more than 70 years. She served as a church clerk, Sunday school teacher, training union teacher, vacation Bible school and Women's Missions Union director and on various committees. She was involved in the Hanging of the Greens/Christmas musical. Sunday school was her favorite part of the church service. She was a member of Laurel Chapter 22 Order of the Eastern Star, a former member of DAR, and a member of First Families of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus H. Lane and Mattie Lane Crass; three sisters, Clyde Young, Fay Ola Hartley and Jessie Wright; two brothers, Tom and Jim Lane; and husband Rawleigh C. "Mitch" Mitchell.
Survivors include son, Rawleigh M. "Chigger" Mitchell and wife Becky, LaPlace, La.; daughter, Mary Lane Moore and husband Bob, Kingston; five grandchildren, Jason Mitchell and wife Nikki, Knoxville, Lance Mitchell, New Boston, Texas, Joshua Mitchell and wife Chelsea, Denham Springs, La.; Marty Moore and wife April, Pine Orchard, Tiffany Moore and Riley Trapp, Knoxville; and great-grandchildren, Spencer and Bella Grace Moore.
Funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in Kyker Funeral Home chapel, Kingston, with the Rev. Kenny Rains Jr., the Rev. Ronnie Nickell and the Rev. Wayne Nelson officiating.
