Eugene J. LaBounty, 90, of Kingston, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, in Methodist Medical Center.
He was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church and past master of Union Lodge 38 F&AM, the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. Eugene retired from the U.S. Army and enjoyed baseball and bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Maude LaBounty; and brother, Sherman LaBounty.
Survivors include wife of 70 years, Mavis J. LaBounty, Kingston; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Danny Goodson, Hampton, Va., and Shereen and H.D. Franklin, Sweetwater; grandchildren, Kendra Merrell, Smithfield, Va., Kyle and Donna Briglia, Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Angel and David Bosnak, Kingston, and Alyshia and Billy Field, Oak Ridge; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Francis LaBonte, New York; sister-in-law, Rosezella Souther, Waterburg, Va.; and many friends and neighbors.
Funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, in the Kyker Chapel followed by a Masonic memorial service conducted by Union Lodge 38 F&AM. Please do not wear black to the services. Entombment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in Kyker Funeral Home, Kingston.
