Gladys Lorene Henry of Kingston passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, in University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville.
She was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Detroit. She was a Loyal member of Kingston First Baptist Church for 54 years and was a retired beautician and operated the Elite Beauty Salon during her career. She will be sadly missed by many friends in Roane County and Monroe County.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ira M. "Scobey" Henry; her father and mother, Ransey and Eunice Millsaps of Madisonville; a sister, Jean Blankenship; a brother, Carroll Millsaps, both of Madisonville; a son-in-law, Nick Barone; and a grandson, John Henry.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Henry Barone and friend Steve Brackett, Madisonville; a son, Jim Henry and wife Pat, Kingston; a daughter, Janet Henry Johnson and husband David, Franklin. Grandchildren include David Mason and wife Theresa, Jim Henry Jr. and Liesa Henry; and great-grandchildren, Zack and Sam Mason.
Funeral was at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17, in Kyker Funeral Home chapel, Kingston, with Dr. Sonny Works officiating. Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, at Sunset Cemetery in Madisonville. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to The Henry Center, care of Michael Dunn Center, 629 Gallaher Road, Kingston, TN. 37763. The family received friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Kyker Funeral Home, Kingston.
