Howard B. "Easy" Jarvis, 92, of Seymour, formerly of Rockwood, passed away in East Tennessee Veterans Home in Knoxville on Friday, March 7, 2014.
He was a lifetime member of Rockwood United Methodist Church in Rockwood. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran serving in Europe and Africa. He was member of the VFW of Rockwood and American Legion Post 50 of Rockwood. He was the oldest member of Rockwood Masonic Lodge 403. He was preceded in death by parents, Artie and Effie Jarvis; wife, Opal Jarvis; brothers, Richard Jarvis and Bill Jarvis; and sisters, Mary Miller and Martha Long.
He is survived by nephew, Jim Jarvis, Ooltewah; niece, Judy Edwards (Jack), Kingsport; special great-nephews who cared for him in his golden years, Billy Jarvis (Rebecca), Knoxville, and Matthew Jarvis (Carey), Seymour; many other nieces, nephews and cousins; great-niece, Ashley Fine, Oakdale; and a host of friends from his 92 years of life.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, in Rockwood United Methodist Church. Funeral will be at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Don Ferguson officiating. Burial and concluding services followed at Oak Grove Cemetery, with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial and the U.S. Army Honor Guards.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to the Honor Flight Network, 300 East Auburn Ave., Springfield, Ohio 45505.
