Howard Carlisle Leffew, 80, of Kingston, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in Sebring, Fla., surrounded by his family.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1933, in Harriman and was a resident of Kingston but lived the winter months in Florida. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by parents, Alonza Jackson and Charlise Jenkins Leffew; brother, Larry Eugene Leffew; and sister, Joyce Leffew Davis.
Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Yvonne Raines Leffew, Kingston; son, Howard Duane Leffew and wife Bet, Clinton; daughters, Sherry Leffew Stephens and husband Tim, Stearns, Ky., Beverly Leffew, Kingston, and Michelle Robinson Lisenbee, Oliver Springs; brothers, Jerry Leffew and wife Gladys, Harriman, and Michael "Mickey" Leffew, Kingston; sisters, Bernice Raymond, Rockwood, and Vera Ruth Johnston, Harriman; granddaughters, Emily Stephens Ross and husband Brad, Strunk, Ky., Kari Leffew Feazell and husband Kody, Clinton, MacKenzie Conerly, Northridge, Calif.; and Kelsey Leffew Madden and husband Justin, Cleveland; grandsons, Jeremy Stephens, Stearns, Ky., J.T. Conerly, Kingston, Jordan Ledford, Oliver Springs, and Joey Keathley, Oliver Springs; great-grandsons, Mason Daniel Ross, Struck, and Xander Ledford, Oliver Springs; brothers-in-law, Phillip Raines and wife Linda, Morristown, John Jackson and wife Arlene, Knoxville, Ray Jackson and wife Janie, Knoxville, Donald Raines and wife Donna, Knoxville, and DeWayne Raines and wife Angela, Knoxville; sister-in-law, Susan Raines Burleson and husband Kerry, Johnson City; special niece, Kristi Jackson, and her children Nick, Cayleigh and Josie, Kingston; a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in Fraker Funeral Home, Kingston, with funeral service following at 2 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Adrian Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors conducted at gravesite.
