Joe Wendell Harmon, 79, of Lawrenceville, Ga., formerly of Harriman, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, in Embracing Hospice Care.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from AT&T as technician following 45 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War as a gunner on the USS T.E. Chandler. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Everett Harmon; and sister, Vivian.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Harmon, Lawrenceville; sons, Craig Harmon and wife Jan, Between, Ga., and Jeff Harmon, Conyers, Ga.; brothers, Clyde Harmon and wife Shirley, Harriman, and Homer Harmon and wife Wanda, Harriman; granddaughters, Valoree Harmon, Paris, Ill., and Rebecca Harmon, Conyers, Ga.; and grandson, Tyler Harmon, Conyers, Ga.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in Kyker Funeral Home, Harriman, with entombment at Roane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Kyker Funeral Home. www.kykerfuneralhomes.com
