John Ford Hood, 88, of Rockwood, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, in The Bridge at Rockwood.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Rockwood Lodge 403 F&AM; a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school superintendent more than 20 years; and retired from Union Carbide Y-12 plant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Carl "Bud" Hood and Birdie Mae Cunningham Hood; three brothers, Lawrence, Roy and Tom Hood; and two sisters, Eugenia Weaver and Ione Figlock.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Jo Hood, Rockwood; three brothers, Bob Hood (Emma), Rockwood, Bryan Hood (Dawn), Rockwood, and James Hood (Ralphine), Seymour; five sisters, Lois Mattson, Georgetown, Tenn., Kathryn Stephens (Bill), Crossville, Faye Long (Bill), Chickamauga, Ga., Bettye Qualls, Rockwood, and Margie Griffis, Rockwood; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Mildred Jackson Hood, Rockwood; and brother-in-law, James Loyd Boles, Jr. (Betty), Biloxi, Miss.
Funeral and Masonic services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 30, in Rockwood United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors. The family received friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the church. Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, was in charge of arrangements.
