Johnny "Alec" McGhee, 84, of Harriman, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at his residence with his family by his side.
Mr. McGhee was a lifelong member of Elverton Primitive Baptist Church, Harriman. He was a retired admin manager at Kayser-Roth with 40-plus years of service. He loved music, playing the guitar and writing songs. Mr. McGhee was an avid outdoorsman. He retired several years ago, however with his strong work ethic he continued to work hard around his house. Above all, he was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is preceded in death by parents, Clyde and Goldie McGhee; wife, Mallie McGhee; brother, Jesse McGhee; and sister, Viona Miles.
He is survived by daughters, Myra Clabough, Anderson County, and Kathy Gann and Rhonda Felthaus (Larney), all of Harriman; seven grandchildren, Cassie Bellinghausen, Alisha Bowerman (Jason), Dustin Phillips (Taylor), Jon Gann (Kelly), Katie Clabough and Skylar Felthaus; four great-grandchildren; brother, Billy McGhee (Jo), Harriman; sister, Dorothy Banks, Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews; and many friends in the Roane County community.
Arrangements are as follows - Monday, Nov. 6, family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Greg Russell officiating. Interment will follow the funeral in the Elverton Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Harriman.
