Johnny Franklin "Poppy" Douglas, 73, of the Bradbury community, Kingston, passed away suddenly Sunday, May 4, 2014.
Doug was a member and caretaker of Bradbury United Methodist Church. Doug was retired from the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam era, and later from the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. He was a dedicated NRA member, a master wood craftsman and an avid collector. Doug was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Douglas; and his parents, Everett and Lucy Douglas.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Douglas; daughter, Penny Douglas Wallis, Knoxville; three granddaughters, Savannah, Amanda and Elana; grandson, Nathan; great-grandchildren, Issac and Alara; and brother, Everettt Douglas Jr.
A viewing was from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, in Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City. The family received friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in Bradbury United Methodist Church. Memorial services followed at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Burkhart and the Rev. Rod Garrett officiating. Interment was at Bradbury Church Cemetery with full military honors.
