A celebration of life for Lawrence Eugene "Gene" Edenfield will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the sanctuary of Kingston United Methodist Church, 529 Highland St., Kingston.
He passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at the age of 79. He is now with his parents, who have been waiting to greet him.
He will be truly missed by his loving wife, Joan, of 55 years. They met shortly after graduating from Florida State University at a neighborhood picnic, where both their parents had just moved. It was then they met their soulmates, and married in Tallahassee, Fla. They were blessed with three children. He is lovingly remembered by his oldest daughter and husband, Lauren and William Clinton Price III and grandson William Clinton IV; his son, Cole Edenfield and granddaughter Molly; and youngest daughter with her husband, Jennifer and Joseph Galati II and grandchildren Maria Joan and Joseph III.
He was born in Jacksonville, Fla., graduated from Leon High in Tallahassee and was a proud Seminole and Florida State Kappa Alpha. He retired from his executive position in the cement industry after more than 40 years to fulfill a dream to build a beautiful log home for him and Joan to reside in the mountains of Kingston.
He was an amazing, kind-hearted man, had a great sense of humor, brought laughs to his friends, family and grandkids. He had so many accomplishments in life, but the truest of them all and his most important success was showing his love to his wife, kids and grandkids. He was at their greatest celebrations, life-changing events and there to hold them up in crisis. He will be missed by so many of those whom hearts he touched!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project in his memory at www.woundedwarriorproject.org; have acknowledgement sent to his son, Cole Edenfield, 25 Old Ridge Road, Kingston, TN 37763. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City, is in charge of arrangements.
