Lawrence L. Moore, 99, of Harriman, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at his home.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Edith Moore; several brothers and sisters; and daughter-in-law, Annette Moore. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Brother Lawrence Lee Moore was born in Coalfield, Morgan County, on May 23, 1914. He was educated in Coalfield High School, with advanced studies in welding, blue print and structural designing. He was raised in Alpha Lodge 376, Clinton, Jan. 12, 1946; York Rite affiliation, Chapter in April 1953, Council in April 1953; commander in 1953; past patron Laurel Chapter 22 Order of the Eastern Star; Scottish Rite; 32nd degree on Oct. 1-2, 1954; KCCH, Oct. 18, 1971; honorary 33rd degree, Dec. 17, 1977; past president Scottish Rite Club, 1976; appointed grand representative of the Grand Lodge of Delaware, to the Grand Lodge of Tennessee in 1978 (lifetime appointment). He served two terms on the Roane County Court, 10 years on the board of directors of GT Corp. and on the planning commission for the city of Harriman. He was appointed an honorary Kentucky colonel in 1992 and likewise appointed an honorary Tennessee colonel in 1986. He was owner/operator of Service Welding Shop, a family business, with his wife, Edith and sons, Jack Lee Moore and Jerry Albert Moore, from 1956-82. He was one of 11 to organize Little League sports (baseball, softball, football and basketball) in Harriman in 1958.
Survivors include children, Jack Moore, Wartburg, Sherrian Casebier, Harriman, Jerry Moore and wife Ineta, Rockwood, and Jennie Boardman and husband Larry, Marietta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Loretta Johnson, Clinton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren
Funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in Kyker Funeral Home chapel, Harriman, with the Rev. Mason Goodman officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Roane Memorial Gardens.
