Leon Luther Lowery, 75, of Harriman, went home to glory Sunday, May 11, 2014, after a battle with cancer.
Leon was a faithful member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. He was a loving husband to Wanda Lowery for 54 years, and loving father to three children. Both were proud graduates from South Harriman High School. He was retired from Lockheed Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Lowery and Fairl Lowery; and brothers, Delma and Herman Lowery.
He is survived by wife, Wanda Lowery; daughters and sons-in-law, Jana and Chris Poland, Knoxville, and Cheryl and Baron Tapp, Kingston; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lori Lowery, Knoxville; grandchildren, Allison Poland, Holden Woods, Kayla Poland and Jake Woods; brothers, Charles "Chuck" Lowery, Raymond Lowery and Bennie Lowery; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with funeral to follow. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Mount Pisgah Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the print shop at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. Kyker Funeral Home, Harriman, is in charge of arrangements. www.kykerfuneralhomes.com
