Linda Jane Oaks Davidson, 69, of Niota, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at her residence.

She was born in Paris, Tenn. A former resident of Roane County, she had been a resident of McMinn County for 38 years. She was a daughter of the late Chester Lee and Katherine McMinn Oaks and was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Easterling. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended Clearwater Baptist Church. She was an insurance agent for American General Life and Health Insurance Co. for many years. She was known as "Maw" to many other children she took in as her own.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, William Glenn "Bill" Davidson; children, Robin Davidson, Bill Davidson, Jackie Davidson, Christy Gilmore, Chris Gilmore, Scott Davidson and Hannah Davidson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Tony Fox, Cleveland, and Sherrie Ann and Terry Arthur, Strawberry Plains; nine grandchildren, Meneka Lyle, Josh McKenzie, Jessica Davidson, Christian Gilmore, Canaan Gilmore, Christa Gilmore, Skyler Tilley, Savannah Davidson and Alexis Davidson; three great-grandchildren, Kylee Lyle, Spartan Lyle and Raven McKenzie; several nieces and nephews.
The family will recieve friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, with funeral services to follow visitation at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Greg Hutsell officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Roane Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 27, in Roane County. Those unable to attend may send condolences at www.laycock-hobbs.com.
