Mary Doris King, 74, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at her residence.

A native of Roane County and resident of McMinn County most of her life, she was a daughter of the late John Greer and Jessie Mae Stamper Hickey. A former employee of NHC Healthcare of Athens, she was an employee of Wellington Place. She was a member of Niota First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir, the Ruth Gideon Sunday school class and a member of the Elizabeth Jane Sewell Circle.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rex and Diane King, Niota, and Dan and Karri King, Farragut; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Paul Rayl, Niota, and Kay and Kevin Faulkenberry, Rock Hill, S.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard Dwight and Cindy Hickey, Thorsby, Ala.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice Carolyn and Jay Gould, Berne, Ind., and Eloise and Fred Henry, Powell; nine grandchildren, Kayla King, Kevin King, Jesse Rayl, Reagan King, Corbin King, Davis King, Rachel Faulkenberry and Nolan Faulkenberry; former husbands, Harold D. King and Bruce Jordan; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, in Niota First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Edgeman Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richard Layman, Chris Henry, Fred Henry Jr., Kevin King, Jesse Rayl and Corbin King. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 15, in Laycock Hobbs Funeral Home, Athens.
